Augmenting Your Research with AI Enrich
Use AI Enrich to deepen your insights, stress-test hypotheses, or explore emerging themes — all within the same project without going back into field.
What is AI Enrich?
AI Enrich helps you evolve your dataset without starting from scratch. You can ask new questions (Horizontal Enrichment) or add more participants (Vertical Enrichment) to build on what you’ve already collected.
- Horizontal Enrichment = Asking new questions of your existing participants → Great for exploring new angles, contextualizing responses, or adding depth to a key finding.
- Vertical Enrichment = Adding more participants to your existing questions → Useful when you want to increase confidence in findings, boost sample sizes, or compare synthetic vs. first-party responses.
How to Use AI Enrich
-
Open your study in Panoplai.
-
Click Edit (top right).
-
Select Get Data (center).
-
Select AI Augment.
-
Select ENRICH Data and next.
-
Choose your approach:
-
Augment Existing Questions (Vertical Enrichment)
- Select the existing questions you wish to augment.
-
Create New Questions (Horizontal Enrichment)
- Program new questions.
-
-
Click next to see a summary of the number of questions and responses to fill as well as the cost.
-
Click submit to generate synthetic responses modeled on the original data.
Note that you cannot use both Horizontal and Vertical in the same order. You can do one or the other.
When to Augment Your Research with AI Enrich?
-
You wish you’d asked a question — and want to follow up with your original participants post-launch.
-
You’ve uncovered an unexpected insight and need to understand the “why” behind it.
-
A stakeholder asks a follow-up after seeing results — and you want to explore it without restarting fieldwork.
-
You’re testing a new idea or creative and want feedback from participants who already have relevant context.
-
You’re preparing for a workshop or deliverable and need richer detail or color on a specific theme.
AI Enrich is built on real human data — synthetic responses are modeled to reflect the tone, logic, and diversity of your original participants. As a result:
-
Standard research best practices apply. Ask clear, well-structured questions tailored to your audience and objectives.
-
Design with humans in mind. Whether you’re exploring behaviors, testing reactions, or gathering open-ends, you’ll get the best results by writing as if you’re speaking directly to real people — because, effectively, you are.
-
Stay aligned with your study goals. Use Enrich to build meaningfully on what you’ve already collected — not to overextend or “fix” a poorly framed dataset.
FAQs
Q: Are synthetic responses realistic?
Yes — they’re built to mirror the logic, tone, and segmentation of your original audience. Our testing framework ensures alignment on accuracy, adaptability, and actionability.
