Cuts vs. Filters - What's the Difference?

Filters and Cuts both help you analyze your data — but they’re designed for different use cases.

Tool Use Case Output
Filter Focus on one group (e.g., just Gen Z) View only that group’s data
Cut Compare multiple groups side-by-side See segmented results at once

When to Use Each:

  • Use Filters when you want to isolate one audience or clean up your view

  • Use Cuts when you want to compare two or more audiences within the same chart

Power Combo:

Use them together. For example:

  • Filter to U.S. participants only

  • Then Cut by gender to compare male vs. female responses

This approach helps you refine your analysis and understand the differences between key subgroups within your dashboard.
